HESHAM MALIK

Dubai’s art lovers have reason to celebrate. The famed British auctioneers Sotheby’s will be conducting their first ever art auction in Dubai on May 9, 2015 at the Royal Ballroom, One & Only Royal Mirage. A member of Dubai’s Ruling Family will be the Guest of Honour at this auction cum charity evening where 20 paintings by internationally acclaimed artist Hesham Malik will go under the hammer. The proceeds from the event will go towards the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre in Dubai.                

Upping the glam quotient will be Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan and veteran star Kabir Bedi. Both stars will play a prominent role during the event where a collection of masterpieces titled Esparito (Spirit) by the Prague-based artist will be on display.

Roshan, who has been involved in quite a few charitable initiatives in the past, will be seen trying his hand at live painting during the event. The actor and Malik will jointly work on a canvas that will be auctioned later during the event.

KABIR BEDI- MAN WITH THE BARITONE VOICE

Bedi, who has been a voting member of the Oscars for over three decades, is known for his eloquence and powerful, motivational speeches. He is going to be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Rest assured it’s going to be a memorable evening for all.

This exclusive event has been organized by a Dubai-based art consultant, curator and collector Manisha Sugandh supported by art curator Ayesha Imtiaz, in collaboration with The Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre. Ahead of the event on May 9, Roshan will be making a trip to the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre to attend a press conference along with Malik and other key people involved with this unique charity event. The actor will be seen interacting with the children of the Centre. Malik will be holding a workshop for children of the Centre and also creating a canvas along with them.

Malik’s latest collection Esparito is an ode to the ever-evolving spirit of life. ‎"Every life has a spirit and every spirit has colour within," said the artist about his inspiration for his latest collection.

When one defines Espãrito the first few words that come to the mind are angel, energy, mystery and force. The event intends to showcase a wide range of illustrations for viewers. The main goal is to convey a visual representation of modern abstraction and art leading to the colors found within one’s heart.

The artist also draws influences from Dubai, a city he frequently visits. He considers the place as a melting pot of cultures and believes that the residents of Dubai have unique life experiences from which one can learn so much.

Directors of Dubai Art and Cultural Authority, envoys and diplomats from the countries Hesham represents as well as directors of Louvre and Guggenheim Museums are expected to attend the event. The auction will take place in the Royal Ballroom at The One & Only Royal Mirage, Dubai on May 9.
