Burjuman, Brest Friends, Al Jalila Foundation & Unicare Fight Against Breast Cancer This October- New Mobile APP Launch

On September 13, 2015 BurJuman, Dubai,  announced the start of the 2015 Safe & Sound breast cancer awareness campaign, on October 1, 2015. Cancer claims more and more lives with each passing year. When asked about how the awareness campaigns plans to help those whose life is affected by Breast Cancer.
Valiant Survivors Along With Dr. Houriya Kazim

·         Early detection,
·         Rregular checkups
·         Regular  exercise upto 20 min

Adequate vitamin D. She spoke about a peculiar paradox. Sunlight is thought to be the best source of Vitamin D yet people in the Middle East are gripped by the problem of Vitamin D deficiency. At least an hour under the sun (ideally early morning or post 4 PM) is the amount of exposure to sunlight that is needed for people of Asian and Middle Eastern region.
Mr. Leigh Regan, Representatives of Burjuman & Al Jalila Foundation, Cancer Survivors,. Ms. Linda & Dr. Houriya

Now in its 19th year, Safe & Sound is one of the largest and most comprehensive breast cancer campaigns in the Middle East. Featuring in-mall and external initiatives throughout October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, the campaign focuses on empowering women and their families in the fight against breast cancer. Since its launch in 1997, Safe & Sound has championed a message of survival through early detection, reaching over 25 million people and raising over AED2.5 million for patient care and increased awareness of this devastating disease.
New Mobile APP Launch To Replace Walkathon:

A key element of this year’s campaign is the introduction of the new Safe & Sound app. The app will replace the traditional Safe & Sound Walkathon and will be available to subscribersboth in and outside the UAE, starting from October. Users will be able to run and walk, trackingtheir progress at the same time. Participants are invited to donate money directly to Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends via the app’s built in payment gateway. Not just limited to individuals, users can walk or donate on behalf of an organisation, which allows corporations to support Safe & Sound as part of their CSR initiatives. If the total distance walked through the app reaches the 50,000km milestone in 2015, BurJuman has pledged to donate a further AED100,000 to the cause.

Burjuman Joins Hands With Al Jalila Foundation, Brest Friends & Unicare

Mr Leigh Regan, COO of BurJuman says  ‘Now in its 19th year, BurJuman is incredibly proud to have been a part of an initiative that has touched the lives of so many women and their loved ones. As the campaign evolves with the development of the new Safe & Sound app, we are aiming to reach even more individuals with our message of survival through education and early detection.’
For 2015, BurJuman has joined forces with charity partner Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic organisation which is dedicated to saving lives through medical education and research. Founded in 2013 by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Al Jalila Foundation is partnered with Brest Friends, Dubai’s only breast cancer support group. Funds raised by Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends will go directly towards life-saving medical research, awareness, treatment and support for patients with breast cancer in the UAE.

Funds Raised To Counter The Increasing Menance

‘Al Jalila Foundation is fully committed to transforming the lives of women and their families affected by breast cancer,’ says Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama CEO of Al Jalila Foundation. ‘According to recent studies the incidence of breast cancer has risen by 20 per cent and women here are being diagnosed at a younger age than in the West. Having said that, very little research on this issue is done locally – instead, we are obliged to rely on resourcing from abroad, a considerably more costly option. By partnering with BurJuman’s Safe & Sound campaign, we hope to raise funds for local breast cancer research, as well as increasing awareness of the disease and supporting women as they undergo treatment.’

Pearls of Wisdom From Dr Houriya’s

‘Dealing with any form of cancer is one of the hardest challenges that patients and their families can experience,’ says Dr Houriya Kazim, Founder and President of Brest Friends. ‘A nurturing and supportive network can really help to minimise the psychological side effects of the disease. Brest Friends works alongside Al Jalila Foundation to assist breast cancer patients in a number of important ways - from improving awareness through education, to emotional and financial support.’

Inspiring Moments Of Truth From Valiant Survivor
Linda Berlot

‘It is so important to be proactive in the fight against breast cancer,’ says Brest Friends’ Vice Chairperson Linda Berlot, a Safe & Sound ambassador and breast cancer survivor. ‘Through our partnership with Safe & Sound and Al Jalila Foundation, we hope to spread awareness of this disease and the importance of early detection through self-examination and regular health checks. A breast cancer diagnosis does not just affect the individual, it affects her whole family.

Unicare Dedicates 10,000 Coupons For Free Check Ups, & Unlimited Discounted Mammograms during October.

A community-wide campaign such Safe & Sound 2015 will ultimately save lives through education, support and empowerment. As in previous years, uniCare Medical Centre joins the campaign as medical partner, and will be running a number of activities during Breast Cancer Awareness month, such as giving away 10,000 coupons for free check ups, and unlimited discounted mammograms at uniCare clinics during October.

Incredible innovations from Uniliver- Pond’s BB Cream –Age Miracle & Sunsilk’s Dry shampoo

Buzzingtales feels beauty is no longer just skin deep. Feeling good about self, adds volumes to our self-confidence. What is incredible is that, being beautiful is not  about being born beautiful or being able to afford expensive treatments and products. Being beautiful is more about accepting one’s uniqueness and enhancing or maintaining them. Beauty has become accessible to all especially with phenomenal products like Pond’s BB  Cream –Age Miracle or the incredibly innovative products like Dry Shampoo.

Buzzingtales reviewed Sunsilk’s Dry shampoo and was really astonished about this refreshing shampoo that rejuvenates the hair in 1 min flat and that too without water. Indeed “A life saving Innovation From” Sunsilk. There have been umpteen times- when you have to look your best in a jiffy-when you are stuck between the seconds ticking by, and lifeless dull hair. Sunsilk has found an incredible solution to these irritants and made sure your hair problems don’t land you in HOT WATER!

Nilo Haq, Make-up Artist & Pond’s Arabia Brand Ambassador shares 4 Makeup Tricks to Help Hide Embarrassing Skin Issues

Let’s be honest, filters and skin editing apps are great for photos but every girl has one or another skin issue they want to hide in real life.  Achieving perfect skin is a struggle and there are common skin issues we all deal with.  It is most important to feel comfortable in the skin you are in and makeup almost always helps! Here are some common skin issues and how to deal with them using makeup:

Problem: Dark Circles
Dark circles are a problem most girls have.  Besides trying to get your 9 hours of uninterrupted beauty sleep, drinking the recommended intake of daily water and eating well there are some makeup tricks that can hide them in a jiffy.
Generally dark circles are blue or brown based in color, so after applying foundation use an orange color corrector and apply a tiny amount on top of the dark area evenly. The orange will cancel out the darkness of the under eye. Then use a yellow undertone concealer on top to brighten it up.  Choose a full coverage liquid concealer for best results.

Problem: Pimples
An unwanted zit can be one of the worst things to wake up too.  Hide a zit easily by dabbing it with a green color corrector as it cancels out the redness of the zit.  Then apply a pink undertone concealer on top.  Lastly, set the zit immediately with a powder to keep the concealer in place and to make the zit seem like it was never even there.

Problem: Large Pores

Large pores can be annoying.  The trick to make them appear less obvious is to keep your makeup as matte as possible.  Start off with using silicon based face primer to smooth out your skin and help make open pores less obvious.  Then use a matte foundation on top and set it with a powder to make skin look as smooth and pore-less as possible.  Try to stay away from highlighters, glitter or shine as these enhance the open pores further.

Problem: Dry & Flaky Skin
Dry & flaky skin can be difficult to work with foundation.  Not only does the dry look wrinkle with foundation on top, flaky skin sticks to it making the base look like a mess.  Avoid this common skin issue by making sure you exfoliate regularly.  Exfoliating is the best way to get rid of dead skin sitting on top of your skin and will help allow the new fresh skin to come through.  Also try to incorporate a cleansing brush into your skincare ritual as these brushes are great to help exfoliate skin.

Ikebana Workshop At Bujuman- Symphony For The Soul

Buzzingtales found out about the beauty of asymmetry at the Ikebana flower workshop held to initiate the media about the Japanese art of flower arranging at Burjuman Mall on occasion of the on-going “Flower Power” event . The beautiful composition is a symphony of “empty” spaces and  assymetrical forms highlighting elegant lines, natural beauty and simplicity through arrangement of flowers in a disciplined manner. Practiced for more than 6 centuries  Ikebana originally began as flower offring for Lord Buddha. Ikebana is derived from Ikeru (to make live, and to keep alive) and Hana meaning (flower), and accentuates the characteristics of flower and their harmonized splendor.

Our petite Ikebana Instructor Ms Haraue Oki is a certified Associate Second Master in Ikebana from the Ohara school of Ikebana. She has been practicing since the age of 15 and had taught in London, Tokya, Paris and now in Dubai. Working with flowers, scissors, Kenzan (Needle point flower holder) and a flat vase  Buzzingtales was mesmerized by the exquisite construct they created along with 10 other media colleagues. Though all of worked along similar instruction we created 11 different compositions. This art form is indeed therapeutic and Buzzingtales strongly recommends this to all.

Instantly Ageless- 'Botox in a sachet'

What would you say if a magical anti-aging secret lands right into your lap? - Or should I say a 'Botox in a sachet'. Yes, you heard/read me right!!!  “Instantly Ageless”  promises   to miraculously diminish & fade away your puffy eyes, thick/ fine lines and wrinkles in less than 2 minutes.  Who doesn’t want to wipe off those lines off their face and knock off a few years in Ahem… Ahem… just a few minutes!!! Instantly Ageless product claims to works best on apparent / visible affected area and provides the necessary results. Watch the videos below to get a grasp of things!!

                                                          video supplied

When my review sample of the product arrived -needless to say- I was both apprehensive and excited. I am a great proponent of all things natural. Although I do the daily ritual of cleansing & moisturizing- most of my beauty treatment product come straight from my kitchen counter. So you can say my beauty products consist mostly of milk, cucumber, almond….yes you get the flow. So you can understand why I was getting jitters about using a novel & completely new product. All the same I have a little rebel inside me who surfaces every now & then. This apart from the obvious pull of unknown adventure and lure of stumbling upon something miraculous prompted me to try out the product.

1. A very vital fact that made my choice of dabbing something new on my face easier was the promptness of the marketing team to make their product available for review. Only someone who is sure of their product quality will readily allow it to be scrutinized.

2. Instantly Ageless needed to be applied only after applying moisturizer. As I did not need to apply it on my bare face it put me more at ease.

                                                    video supplied

My face did look refreshed and rejuvenated. My review sample was for only 3 application and the still the difference in my skin was quiet evident.  The marketing team had pointed out earlier that the impact is most noticeable on visible & apparent areas. Hence the benefits of the product will be instantly seen in those with perceptible signs of aging. That is not to say that we need to wait for signs of aging to set in before erasing them. The product is not just for diminishing signs of aging but also to prevent or delay their occurrence. Prevention after all is the best cure
Insight:
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Some also believe that with eternal beauty we can have eternal joy.  Youth with its vibrant spirit is considered synonymous with beauty. Now who doesn’t want to look youthful? Some may find this hollow and argue about the beauty of aging gracefully. Beauty of the soul for some is vital, and youth they argue is momentary. No matter how skin deep beauty is for these rare species- I’m sure- even the greatest cynics will turn back for a chance to glance at a beauteous face.
Many people don’t even bat an eye-lid before going under the knife to achieve their parameters of beauty. While Buzzingtales really feels such an obsession with beauty has various underlying problems, it’s an individual decision at the end of the day. Desire for flawless skin drives many to take extreme steps. If you are about to take such drastic steps do look for less radical solutions. Instantly ageless with its powerful formulation claims to recreate similar or better results as a botox injection minus all the agonizing pain and distressing side effects. So all who desire a youthful appearance & wrinkle free flawless skin be informed there is one great product in the market - INSTANTLY AGELESS

‘Feel The Beat’ - Women’s Heart Health Takes Center Stage At Mall Of Emirates & City Center

A Women's HEART is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Isn't it time we take care of this prized heart?

Every weekend until June 12th, medical specialists from the Ministry of Health and City Centre Clinic will visit all Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls across the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon and Oman, administering a series of preventative tests for all females, to raise awareness for the risks of heart disease.

Stress, lack of physical activity, tobacco use, and weight & nutrition problems are the top lifestyle risk factors of the Middle Eastern workforce, according to a Middle East Healthcare Survey by Towers Watson. All of these factors lead to cardiovascular diseases, causing 45% of early deaths in the Gulf region, cardiovascular diseases do not spare women despite the common beliefs that this concerns more men. Each year, more than 17.5 million people die from cardiovascular disease (CVD), of which 8.6 million are women. Globally, one-third of all women are living with heart disease - this is more than the total number of females who die from all cancers, tuberculosis, HIV-AIDS and malaria combined.

Majid Al Futtaim calls upon all to join in raising awareness on the risk of CVD amongst women. Mall of the Emirates, a leading lifestyle destination, furthered its commitment to supporting community health and welfare by screening more than 450 women for cardiovascular diseases at Mall of the Emirates.  Done in partnership with the Ministry of Health and City Centre Clinic, the heart health testing over the weekend was the launch of Majid Al Futtaim’s regional month-long ‘Feel the Beat’ campaign.

Checks included blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI) to determine if the participating women were at risk for heart disease.

With the objective to empower women to take control of their heart health through early detection and preventative measures, ‘Feel the Beat’ is part of Majid Al Futtaim’s wider programme of health and sustainability initiatives taking place throughout the year ensuring health, happiness and creating great moments for everyone, everyday.

Participating malls throughout the campaign in the UAE are: Mall of the Emirates; City Centre Mirdif; City Centre Deira; City Centre Ajman; City Centre Fujairah; My City Centre, Nasseriya and City Centre Sharjah.  Shoppers can also participate in screening locations at City Centre Bahrain; City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum in Oman, City Centre Alexandria and City Centre Maadi in Egypt, and City Centre Beirut in Lebanon.
