A NEW DAY

COME APRIL AND MY POEM NO:1 For
www.napowrimo.net

A NEW DAY
As the day comes to a draw
I sit down to pen my thoughts raw
I had begun the  day thinking of some things as vital
Disquieting myself over trivial
My ego damaged and nursing my dented self-esteem
Distressing over insults like slaps delivered right across my face now grim
Tears of anger, anguish clouding my eyes , a searing pain threatening to rip something deep inside
Then from somewhere softly a voice nudged me on
Shoving me jestingly towards a well of positivity unseen
“Why this anguish, this persecution over hurled stones
They hurt you no more  when you know they are words not arrows or thorns
Why harass yourself over things not in your control, deeds you have not done
Let not your ego be a glass castle, let it be accountable only for the right and wrong you have done
What appears vital now, fades away when a new sun shines
A new day begins and new hope rise.”

What a beautiful poem. I particularly like the "let not your ego be a glass castle" line. So true!

So happy to have discovered you through NaPoWriMo. One of the joys of the challenge!

Keep the hope rising...

Thank you Emily. You write too and so you will empathize with me ....writers are a breed low on confidence ...always self-critical...so a word of appreciation really helps.:)
